What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I like the versatility of the job – the fact that we can create solutions for large projects. I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the work that was done on a computer come to life.
What do you like doing outside of work? Everything outdoors (surfing, playing sports, hiking, swimming at the beach, long nature walks), playing the piano or guitar, drawing and coloring, cooking, and car or motorcycle rides.

What do you like doing outside of work? Along with spending time with my family, outside of work I enjoy golfing, fishing, racquetball, handball, basketball and many other outdoor activities.

The sense of accomplishment that comes from working on challenging projects, working well with the team, and meeting deadlines. I enjoy learning new things that will help me become a better engineer and person and sharing what I know and my experience with the rest of my team as well.
What do you like doing outside of work? I like to travel and go on road trips. I also enjoy visiting new places, enjoying nature, spending time with my dog, and playing tennis.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? Not picky on food- but I do enjoy Asian, Spanish, and Italian cuisine. I like Rum – and I like traveling the world and experiencing different cultures.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I love working in the built-environment and having a hands-on touch with new construction buildings that become essential to the various industries they serve. I see our product as a service designed to support other commercial industries to do great things and continue advancing our society. We are an essential utility that plays a major role is some pretty awesome technological advances. It’s great that almost every project is unique and really keeps the job fresh and interesting.
What do you like doing outside of work? I like to play in pick-up sports leagues such as basketball and flag-football. I also like to attend live music shows and festivals. My newest hobby is scuba diving. I recently became certified and am super excited for the places I will travel to put that certification to use.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I am passionate about my work because I believe that what I do matters and can make a difference. I like that with the experience we have in the 3D world, we can help make the best decisions to deliver engineering of excellence and quality. It’s rewarding to know that my efforts contribute to something meaningful and impactful.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities. One of my favorite things to do is spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling to new places. When I have free time, I like to exercise and explore the outdoors. I find that these activities help me relax and recharge, and they allow me to return to work with renewed energy and focus.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite food is pasta! There’s just something about the comforting combination of noodles and sauce that always hits the spot for me. As for my favorite place to travel, I absolutely love going to the beach. There’s something about the sound of the waves, that just puts me in a relaxed and happy state of mind.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I take pride in producing a great looking set of plans. The notion that our 3D model will eventually turn into a part of an actual building feels very rewarding to me.
What do you like doing outside of work? I like to spend most of my free time with my five year old son. Watching him grow up is the best feeling in the world.

Whenever I feel the need to recharge my batteries, I like to prep a good playlist on Spotify, pack a small bag and take a nice road trip up the California coast or a quick flight down to Oaxaca or Mexico City.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? Lighting Design for me, is a great balance of creative design mixed with technical application. I love problem solving. Whether it be the right way to light a space or how to deliver a design that is in budget. It all comes into play when working with the team to come up with the winning solution. And then seeing it built.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of the office, I love to travel. My longest stint and favorite trip so far was to Egypt in 2023. The culture and the people stood out as part of my favorite experience. And of course, the history and architecture is unbeatable. Next stop … a good stay in Italy.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite place to visit it where I live. San Diego. I love taking walks along the water with my dog, Daisy, at Spanish Landing or Sunset Cliffs. Balboa Park is also at the top of list. So many things to do there, including just laying under a tree watching the clouds go by (if we have any).

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I knew at a young age that I would get into engineering because I love Legos and enjoy all things science. Basically, engineering has always been my passion. Over the years, I have become more of a mentor to greener engineers and have implemented practices to help streamline complicated processes for the senior engineers. But I especially enjoy the day to day problem solving and resolving technical engineering problems within the construction industry.
What do you like doing outside of work? I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, including my two pups. I like to learn about new things. I enjoy Astronomy and Astrophotography and working on personal projects such as converting my old 1995 Jeep Wrangler into a screen accurate Jurassic Park Jeep. I also like to attend Comic Con and other nerdy conventions throughout the year.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite food is Sushi. I haven’t done much traveling but I’m hoping to change that. I plan on going to Japan in the near future since I enjoy their culture.

My passions are to learn and to build and being able to explore that, as well as having a team around me with the same mindset, makes my position enjoyable.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work, I am a die-hard San Diego Padres fan, I enjoy watching baseball, and playing way too much golf. I enjoy being outdoors as much as I can and like traveling to places to hike or to snowboard.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite place to travel to is Yosemite National Park, mainly for the hiking and the stunning views.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I love to learn new things every day. This is definitely not a monotonous job; there is always something new to learn and I love knowing that we always support and have each other’s backs. I like knowing that I’m helping our society. I also enjoy my discussions with our professional engineers, learning about their experiences in the field and all of the complex problem solving they have to do in order to produce high-quality designs.
What do you like doing outside of work? I enjoy the landscape every day that I go outside of the office. When I get home, I love playing the guitar and resting watching a little bit of TV. I also enjoy playing football, soccer, and sharing some good food with my friends.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite food is Mexican food, especially tacos. My favorite drink is orange juice – I feel like it fills you up with energy and it tastes delicious! My favorite place to travel is to the beach. For me, the beach is a relaxing place where I can get rid of my problems and feel at peace – more specially, when I hear the sound of the waves.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? MPA is a family to me. Our management team is approachable, professional, and personable. I have always felt respected. MPA is invested in me. They have given me opportunities to increase my value, allow me to continue education, and promoted me on my merits. I start my day counting my blessing for my employment. I feel good coming to work every day. MPA provides a safe working environment.
MPA is respected in the construction industry, and our team possesses outstanding ethical work practices. I like the company gathering outside of work for events such as, barbeques and play activities, walks for charity events, and participating in networking events. All these activities strengthen us as a team and promotes comradery. This is good culture.
What do you like doing outside of work? I volunteer for the American Red Cross, my church, Feeding America, San Diego Blood Bank. “At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back” –Denzel Washington. That quote speaks volumes of how I want to live my life. I love cycling. I had participated in a half century cycle ride with our retired Principal, John McGee. It was an amazing experience I will always cherish. In my spare time I like to cook, read, travel, gaming, watch a good romance/comedy movie, and attend sporting events.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about?By far Mexican food is my favorite, especially when I can enjoy a good chile relleno and a margarita! A good glass of red wine is also something I enjoy when I am on a road trip and exploring new destinations.

Working for the admin/finance side of McParlane Mexico and McParlane & Associates, Inc. had helped me achieve everything I visualized for myself when I was in college. Knowing that I am able to grow here and learn from amazing people is what keeps me motivated everyday in my professional life. I like being a useful member of the team and can see that it is recognized by the effort that everyone shows at MPA.
What do you like doing outside of work? Spending time with my loved ones is what recharges my spirit. I love being close to those who support me the most and enjoy creating special memories with them. In my spare time, I like going to the gym and keeping myself active. I also enjoy discovering new places to eat or have a good drink. I like reading about psychology and personal growth. I love gardening and spending time outdoors whenever I can.

Walking into a new or renovated space…where we participated in the design and supporting construction phases…seeing it become a reality…there is no better feeling in the world. I love helping to create spaces that are functional, safe, and enhance the user experience. You leave a bit of yourself in each project, trying your best to achieve the best solution for your client and the end user, it is all worth it.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I am architect with a keen interest in expanding my expertise in the United States. I am eager to learn about the local systems and methodologies utilized in architectural practice here. My experience includes working on residential and multifamily projects, with a focus on architectural design. I am particularly motivated to deepen my understanding of integrating MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems into comprehensive project development.
What do you like doing outside of work? I enjoy exploring new cafes and restaurants with my wife, and we love going on road trips and camping in different states or national parks a couple of times a year. I’ve been into martial arts and MMA for about 6 years now, and right now, I’m really into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? Seafood is my favorite type of food that I can never stop eating, craft beer especially stout. Travel wherever my car or a plane can take me, there are no limits to seeing new places. But I would say that Seattle and Sedona are definitely the places I visit the most.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? Simply put, I enjoy connecting the dots of engineering with people. I find the process of client collaboration to understand and translate needs into a functional design captivating. It is equally rewarding to work jointly with the contracting team to assist in bringing designs to life. In addition, I find the educational aspect of engineering appealing, as the field continually evolves and presents novel challenges, which requires a perpetual state of problem-solving and learning.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work I enjoy surfing, mountain biking and spending time with my family. I also enjoy opportunities to give back to the community whether coaching youth sports or volunteering for service projects.

What do you like doing outside of work? I like spending time with my dog, Sasha. She is a Border Collie mix and full of loving energy. My family and I make weekly trips to the library and pick a theme to study / read throughout the week. We also enjoy walks in the large park near our home.

I love our culture and love our team!
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work, love camping! Camping and hiking with my hubs and doggos, disc golfing, traveling anywhere hot and sunny with refreshing drinks, love a good road trip, comedy shows, breweries! I’m a certified skydiver and scuba diver (although the older I get the more of a baby I’m becoming – so I don’t really do those things anymore – but, maybe I’ll get that spark back soon!) Stay tuned…

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? Having now dabbled in multiple market sectors whether it’s commercial, residential, or life science, I appreciate that every project presents unique challenges and keeps things interesting. There is always more for a design engineer to learn whether it’s code, system types, or an emerging HVAC technology. One of my favorite things about what I do is that there is a tangible product at the end of a project so there’s a sense of pride whenever I drive by a building or campus that I worked on.
What do you like doing outside of work? Cooking and exploring new places.

Back in college I did a year abroad at Imperial College London and I try to go back to the city to visit whenever I get the chance. As a major hub it makes it easy and convenient to pop into neighboring countries if time permits.

Providing exceptional service to our clients, being profitable on every project, providing a good product, and developing stronger relationships with our clients. I enjoy what I do because I am always learning something new from projects, consultants, and our staff. It is also very rewarding to be a part of a team of builders and designers on every project.
What do you like doing outside of work? I enjoy playing golf, mountain bike riding, and hanging out with the family going to the beach or theme parks like water parks, SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo or Disneyland.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? I love pizza. My favorite drinks are sprite, rum and coke, and Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino’s. Regarding travel, I am always up for visiting places I’ve never been to. I enjoy learning more about other cultures. My favorite place to travel is Guam because I love spending time with all my family, eating authentic home cooked meals every day, and catching up with childhood friends.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? As a plumbing engineer with MPA many things drive me in my position, such as working with a wonderful team to come up with new and creative ideas on every project. Every day brings new challenges that improve my knowledge. In addition, learning new things from my colleagues and projects makes my position more interesting. I have always enjoyed engineering and designing which is why I like and enjoy what I do.
What do you like doing outside of work? I usually spend my time outside of work with family. On weekends I like watch soccer matches, my favorite team is Bayern Munich. I attend car cruises and drifting events to watch my little brothers perform. I like to go to the beach for the sunset and a little walk on the sand.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? I’m originally from Jordan and it is one of the places that I like to travel to and visit. There are many beautiful places there that I still haven’t visited, but I am excited to go see those places soon. The food there is the best, my favorite food from there is Mansaf, it is one of the Jordanian traditional dishes and tastes very delicious.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? What I enjoy about this position is that I am able to work on various projects and understand each client’s needs. I have always been fascinated ever since my dad went out with clients to gain new work and trust from all of his clients. My goal one day is to reach the design level and confidence to dictate the design of the project and understand how I can best provide my services to each client.
What do you like doing outside of work? In my spare time outside of work, I typically love to hike, run, and catch up on any of my video games to destress from any week. At this moment in time, I am trying to get back into the mindset and shape to run my half marathon again, and then hopefully my full marathon within the next couple of years.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? I am still biased towards Vietnamese food since I love the balance of every meal. Each meal tends to come with a side of veggies, so it feels as if I am always eating a somewhat balanced meal. You can also never go wrong with a Vietnamese coffee as it will always give you the caffeine dose that you would need every day. In terms of traveling, my next trip is to go to Switzerland and then Norway to see the Northern Lights as the peak brightness is right around the corner. Eventually, I would love to go back to Japan and New Zealand as I love to be immersed in the culture and nature respectively. My goal is to travel internationally once every 3 years while mixing in some US cities in between so that I am not always bored in SoCal.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? As a relatively fresh engineer my main drive is to learn as much as I can. In the time that I have been working here, I’ve realized that there is a lot to know to be successful. So, I want to learn and be involved with as much as I can to increase my knowledge and experience.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work, I mostly spend time with my friends. We go out to Pacific Beach or Downtown. I like to rollerblade and skate when I have time also. Even though I have not had much free time outside of everything else, I do like to play videogames when I can. Building gaming computers and playing on them was a big thing of mine in the past. Another big thing I’ve been involved with is cryptocurrency and have been doing good with that.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite food is really anything seafood. I really enjoy shrimp, crab, lobsters, fish. Really anything from the sea. My favorite drink will always be Sprite. Nine times out of ten I will get a sprite if I’m not having a beer.

As founding Principal of MPA, I have always believed that my purpose is to create opportunities for co-workers who believe in the process and who are willing to take on risk and continuously grow. I love the construction industry because it requires relentless collaboration. It truly takes a committed and supportive team to make a project in the built environment a success.
What do you like doing outside of work? I love spending time with my family first and foremost; however, I also enjoy physical activity and almost any form of competition.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? Mexican Cuisine is my favorite followed by Japanese. A few places I like to travel include Southern Germany/Austria and Ireland.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I love being involved in the construction industry because there is always something to learn. The friendly environment, hardworking and supportive team members, and my interest in the industry is what drives me in my position.
What do you like doing outside of work? I like sports such as soccer, tennis, and snowboarding.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? I love Mediterranean foods and enjoy traveling to high altitude areas for snowboarding. I also like traveling to islands like Maldives.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I enjoy my current position because it allows me to constantly improve my technical and social skills, which is very motivating.
What do you like doing outside of work? I have a passion for movies, reading, and writing poetry.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? My favorite food is “the mole” (Mexican Food) and my preferred beverage is lemon water with peppermint. Additionally, I am interested in exploring the Mediterranean countries.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? As an engineer I like learning how the world around me works. Starting my career immediately after college at McParlane has allowed me to grow, learn, and design the world we live in. What I love about my position is being able to see the fruits of my work in the world. I love that it is my job to ensure that everyone is comfortable, and when I do my job right no one will know. Just knowing that I am doing something that will affect people in a positive way is all the reward I need.
What do you like doing outside of work? When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time at the beach or playing outside sports such as pickle ball, tennis, baseball, or football with my friends. I also enjoy a few indoor activities such as playing the guitar, bowling, or bar trivia.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? If I could eat one food for the rest of my life, I would choose pizza.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I enjoy working in a collaborative environment with people who are fun to be around and seeing our projects on paper come to life in the field.
What do you like doing outside of work? I enjoy playing guitar in my free time and catching as many Dodger and 49er games as possible. I also enjoy going to concerts, shows, playing video games, and visiting as many southern California breweries as I can.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? I like anything seafood related and enjoy traveling up to the central coast and around California to see family and friends. I like talking about sports and how the Dodgers are doing and that my hometown, Tollhouse, is not the place where the cookies are made.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I enjoy what I do because it gives me the unique opportunity to work on and design massive projects in my home town, and it is an amazing feeling to drive around and see the many hospitals, labs, and offices that you’ve helped design.
What do you like doing outside of work? Outside of work I spend a lot of time playing rugby, surfing, backpacking, and riding dirt bikes. On more casual nights I like to explore the city with my friends, and find new places to see and things to try.
What is your favorite food / drink / place to travel? Something else you’d rather talk about? Favorite food is definitely Hawaiian food as I grew up with it at every youth rugby tournament. Love a good Midori Sour, and my favorite travel experience was backpacking through South East Asia and Japan.

I love being able to work on a variety of project types and enjoy getting to work and collaborate with a variety of disciplines to build amazing projects. I really enjoy being able to see projects I have worked on once they are built.

What is it that drives you in your position / why do you like doing what you do? I enjoy learning new things. Being at MPA has opened my horizons to understand things that I have never imagined exist. It’s been a great journey.
